No-Pull Adjustable Dog Harness

A dog that pulls against a collar puts all of that force through its throat. A harness spreads the same pull across the chest and shoulders instead, so the walk stops being a tug-of-war and your dog stops coughing every time a squirrel appears.

This one is a padded vest panel with a mesh back, an adjustable chest strap on a quick-release buckle, and reflective strips down both sides so headlights pick your dog up early. There is a proper sewn-in handle on the top, which is more useful than it sounds — at kerbs, at the vet, and getting a wet dog into a car boot.

Size — measure the chest, not the neck
Take the tape right round the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.

• XS — chest 36–50 cm
• S — chest 50–60 cm
• M — chest 55–65 cm
• L — chest 65–80 cm
• XL — chest 70–90 cm
• 2XL — chest 90–120 cm

The ranges overlap deliberately. Between two sizes, go up: the straps adjust down, they do not adjust out.

In the box
One harness, in the size and colour you pick. Black, blue or red. No lead.

Worth knowing
The lead clips to a D-ring on the back. Back-clip is right for everyday walking and for a dog that pulls a bit. A dog that pulls hard and is being trained out of it usually does better on a front-clip harness, and this is not one.
